The AfD has always presented itself as the party of poor people. But the AfD has nothing to offer for us working people, who live from month to month, who can barely afford a vacation and have low-paid jobs!
They always kick down: The unemployed, refugees and other socially isolated groups are blamed for all injustices and crises. The AfD remains silent about the real culprits. The aim is to continue the same program and worse which current politics are already doing: A policy of punishment, coercion and cuts. This policy forces people into poverty and makes what is necessary for survival more expensive: food, housing, heating and leisure. Today, we see war, hardship and misery in the world, from which ordinary people always suffer. They are the ones who are sent to the front, who suffer hunger and die. And here, too, it is claimed that there is not enough for everyone because of their wars.
The AfD cannot solve these crises – but why not?
1. …their social policy is not social:
The dissatisfaction with current circumstances are more than understandable. But it is precisely this dissatisfaction that the AfD is exploiting by seemingly representing the needs of the working people.
However, the AfD is taking a much tougher line than the current and previous governing parties. The party strictly rejects the Citizen’s Income (Bürgergeld), which is already far too tightly calculated. They demand, social services should only be paid to people with German citizenship and the Citizen income (Bürgergeld) should be limited to six months or abolished completely. The party wants to introduce so-called citizen work, which links the citizen’s income( Bürgergeld) to forced labor. Anyone who refuses would no longer receive money. Wage earners and the unemployed are getting played off against each other. The absolute control with the payment card for refugees will be extended by the AfD to other social benefits and thus to even more people. As a result, people will continue to be oppressed and punished for their living conditions, which are structurally determined.
Why should the AfD enforce social policy for us if they doesn’t do the same for the unemployed, pensioners or children?
2. …their racist publicity does not name the real culprits:
The AfD uses existing fears by distorting the present. Without real solutions, it blames refugees, our immigrant colleagues or people of Muslim faith for grievances.
With its right-wing to fascist policies, the AfD is inciting hatred against minorities. As the other parties move to the right, this creates a racist climate, which manifests itself in violence against refugees and racist legislation.Blaming migrants does not lead to a playground being built or more money left on our bank account at the end of the month. Racism is deliberately used to ensure that existing conditions are socially tolerated. There is no need to justify the decision for war and bombs instead of food, housing and healthcare, because it is other people’s fault that there doesn’t seem to be enough money for anything. Why should „the foreigners“ instead of your rich boss be to blame for the fact that more and more people have too little to live on?
3. …it wants to further restrict women’s rights.
The AfD represents an image of the family in which women are to be further oppressed. The Life of Single mothers in particular will be made more difficult by receiving less state support. In this circumstances, the roles of men and women should be clearly divided. The woman is supposed to look after the children and the household, while the man goes out to work. Instead of letting people decide for themselves who goes to work and who stays at home, the AfD’s idea is clear. Apart from the fact that in reality both partners have to work anyway, because otherwise there is not enough money, the woman in the AfD’s division is always dependent on the man’s income and is additionally suppressed even more by the state. Women in particular also suffer from increasingly fueled wars. They suffer particularly from hunger, displacement and violence. Why should any family be better off if women’s rights are further restricted?
What do we want?
Racism and exclusion are not a solution to our problems. Wages and working conditions are determined by the bosses. Rents are driven up by landlords and housing corporations. Poverty results from the compulsion for profits by banks, companies and corporations without fair distribution. With austerity measures in budget planning, politicians are placing a particular burden on people with low incomes. They could, for example, simply provide 100 billion euros a year for the population with higher taxes for the rich.
As wage earners, we need to recognize the top and bottom and stand up for our interests together: Be it at work, at school or in places of leisure. We must unite in these places to form anti-fascist counter-forces against the AfD. This is the only way we can expose their right-wing and pseudo-revolutionary solutions and organize ourselves against them and, above all, for our interests!
We can only improve our circumstances ourselves and must not rely on the right-wing, racist and socially hostile policies of the AfD and other bourgeois parties!
If you too have had enough of right-wing agitation and downward mobility, come along to the Open Anti-Fascist Meeting Hamburg and let’s get active together against these conditions!
We meet every first Thursday of the month at 18:30 in the Fabrique in the Gängeviertel!
